Quadpack Industries has signed up to the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative. The move is in line with the company’s CSR strategy and offers a set of agreed guidelines to ensure responsible governance, while helping to shape a better world.

The UN Global Compact calls on companies to align their strategies and operations with 10 universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. It also supports businesses in taking strategic actions to advance broader societal goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation.

Quadpack CSR Director Alex San Miguel said: “The UN Global Compact aims to ensure that business is a force for good. It is all part of our long-term strategy to promote a culture of integrity in a way that is perfectly compatible with running a successful business. As we grow bigger, our impact becomes greater and we take our responsibility towards society and the environment very seriously.”

Joining the UN Global Compact means incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into strategies, policies and procedures, guided by its 17 SDGs. As a participant, Quadpack commits to:

  • Ensuring that the UN Global Compact and the Ten Principles become part of strategy, culture and day-to-day operations.
  • Advocating the UN Global Compact and the Ten Principles via communications channels.
  • Communicating annually with its stakeholders on efforts to implement the UN Global Compact principles.

The Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact are derived from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

The SDGs are the result of ’Agenda 2030’, a plan adopted by all 193 UN member states in 2015 to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and protect the planet.

Fostering innovation with creative young talent

Imagine a fragrance accessory that is both an aromatherapy device and a bold fashion statement. Too futuristic and conceptual? Perhaps – but this product exists, has a name and a creator: ‘NI’ was developed in 2018 by designer Amaia Aranzabal as a final-year project at the prestigious Elisava design and engineering school in Barcelona, Spain. The challenge for that year’s graduating class had been set by Quadpack, partnering with Elisava for the first time.

New investments put Quadpack at the forefront of smart manufacturing

Increased manufacturing capabilities are one of Quadpack’s priorities for the next four years. By 2025, the beauty packaging provider aims to lead innovations in airless and sustainable products, offering solutions “in the region, for the region”. With a clear strategy and a roadmap in mind, Quadpack’s Operations team has the mission of strengthening its industrial capacity through ambitious investments that are being globally deployed.

Packaging with a positive impact on people and the planet

Sustainability is a long-term commitment with innovation, transparency and change. As a packaging manufacturer and provider, Quadpack is directing the sustainable transformation of its portfolio through its ‘positive-impact packaging’ strategy. By using data-based assessment tools to measure products’ carbon footprint, circularity and other key performance indicators, the strategy brings more accountability to Quadpack’s sustainable innovations.

Louvrette one year on: a successful journey

What happens when German engineering excellence meets creativity born in Barcelona? A raft of innovative solutions, developed, produced and delivered in a way that’s sustainable, creative and efficient. That is just one of the outcomes of the rare but successful ‘marriage’ between German manufacturer Louvrette and Quadpack. A lot has happened in the year since the acquisition, which pushed Quadpack into the Top 10 of European beauty packaging providers.

As Sustainability and Innovation are key priorities for Quadpack and the global consumer market, the organisation feels the responsibility to work with supply partners from all regions to establish a new way of doing business, where collaboration is the new competition. On November 13, 2019, Quadpack held a dedicated suppliers’ conference on Sustainability and Innovation in Hong Kong to facilitate this new era of partnerships. Held during the 2019 edition of Cosmopack Asia, in attendance were Quadpack’s top 20 Asia supply partners.
