Innovative collaboration is at the centre of these solutions developed by Quadpack to support COVID-19’s true heroes

The year started with high expectations for all: 2020 was rising as a promising year. Then, the unexpected came. COVID-19 and all its consequences have changed the way we live, work and even dream about the future. In Quadpack’s dictionary, collaboration, innovation and solidarity have become the most important words for 2020. Thanks to our people’s talent and our partners’ resourcefulness, we’re now part of a task force against the virus that is bringing out the best in us. Some of our projects are already in place, supporting health care and other COVID-19 frontline workers:

Face shields: In less than a week, Quadpack Plastics adapted its manufacturing line to make plastic pieces for face shields, helping COVID-19 efforts. With the support of dozens of partners which donated raw material, services and products, an obsolete plastic mould adapted to the new project and the hard work of many Quadpackers, we are now producing and assembling 100,000 face shields to be donated to Spanish governments and institutions.

Masks and gloves: Our suppliers in Asia have made generous donations to Quadpack to support the task force against the virus: thousands of masks and protective gloves are now being distributed to health facilities in the UK and Spain.

3D printing: Quadpack joined a group of 3D printing experts to put our own rapid prototyping centre in UK at the service of the COVID-19 task force. The result is we are now printing hundreds of face shields a week and donating them to North Midlands University Hospital.

As these projects develop and reach the true heroes in this fight against the virus, Quadpack is proud to revisit hopes and expectations for 2020. We believe every crisis brings valuable lessons, and by supporting the community and playing our part as corporate citizens we are convinced we can live, work and dream about the future stronger together.

Imagine a fragrance accessory that is both an aromatherapy device and a bold fashion statement. Too futuristic and conceptual? Perhaps – but this product exists, has a name and a creator: ‘NI’ was developed in 2018 by designer Amaia Aranzabal as a final-year project at the prestigious Elisava design and engineering school in Barcelona, Spain. The challenge for that year’s graduating class had been set by Quadpack, partnering with Elisava for the first time.
